About Me

Dr. Turyahikayo Everest is a distinguished Ugandan scholar and prolific writer, renowned for his contributions to both academic and literary fields. He holds a PhD in Knowledge Management and has an extensive educational background, having studied in Uganda, South Africa, and Finland. His talent for writing emerged early in his life, with his first article published in his school journal while in Form Two in 1995.

My Story

On July 11, 2010, Dr. Turyahikayo’s life was profoundly altered by a tragic incident in Kampala, Uganda’s capital. Suicide bombings targeted crowds watching the 2010 FIFA World Cup Final at two locations, resulting in the deaths of 74 people and injuries to 85 others. Although Dr. Turyahikayo was watching the match from home, he lost many friends in the bombings. These friends were not just acquaintances; they were young, dynamic individuals who had recently graduated from university and begun their careers. Some had started families, while others were the pride of their parents.

Publications

The devastating loss of his friends had a profound impact on Dr. Turyahikayo. Contemplating ways to combat terrorism, he considered joining the army but was ineligible due to his age. Instead, he turned to writing to channel his grief and advocate for respect for humanity and peaceful co-existence. On July 14, 2010, he published an article in the New Vision titled “Serious Measures Against Terrorists Needed,” in which he outlined strategies to prevent future attacks in Uganda. While he does not claim sole credit, Uganda enjoyed a period of peace for over eleven years following the publication, until another bombing occurred in 2021.
